The ~posterior~ |pituitary gland| (or neurohypophysis) produces two ~hormones~: oxytocin and vassopressin. Oxytocin stimulates uterine |contraction| during birth and milk production. Vassopressin causes |arteriole| constriction which helps to regulate the retention of water by the |kidneys|.
